VOYCE Program Site Coordinator
Job Description
POSITION: Site Coordinator, 75% FTE (Approx. 30 hours per week)
STARTING DATE: August/September 2022
COMPENSATION: Hourly rate $26.74 Plus medical, dental, and vision benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Act as supervisor to a youth Leadership Team of 6-8 Youth Interns (VOYCE).
Work with your Youth Leadership Team to recruit and retain 20-30+ young people to form a Youth Leadership Organization (YLO) for your general membership site (VOYCE).
Train Youth Leaders and YLO members in leadership, community organizing and analytical skills. Including facilitation, workshop development, coalition building, participation and training for convenings.
Facilitation of workshops for youth leaders in addition to working in partnership with Youth interns to facilitate program meetings and workshops.
Maintain two spaces, youth internship site and a YLO programming base
Act as an advisor and ensure positive group dynamics for the YLO membership that meets weekly.
Work with Youth Leaders and adult staff to plan and implement AYPAL’s current campaign(s) and statewide initiatives.
Work with Youth Leaders and YLO Members to implement YLO arts activism and service-based projects.
Document and keep accurate records of participation for each individual member of the YLO. In addition to operational tasks e.g producing youth and outside contractor contracts, scheduling, reimbursements, budgeting, etc.
Work with adult staff to plan, implement and evaluate AYPAL’s political education curriculum and organization-wide social change initiatives.
Represent AYPAL and play a key leadership role for AYPAL’s coalition and collaborative campaign activities (ie. PR work, speaking with youth at actions, participating on panels).
Qualifications:
Experience with youth development and community organizing practices and principles
Experience (volunteer or paid) working with API communities and knowledge of their issues
Commitment to the empowerment of historically underrepresented constituents, including young people, people of color, poor people, immigrants and refugees, women, and queer/trans communities.
Proficient administrative skills
Adept oral and written communications skills with youth and adults
Able to work flexible hours (some Saturdays and evenings)
Nice to haves:
Bilingual and bicultural in English and another API language/culture a plus, but not required
Experience with mental support of youth and families
Academic support and college career readiness skills
Connections to local artists and organizing networks
